Ector County ISD adopts Calendar D for 2026–27 after stakeholder process

District staff reviewed the stakeholder process that produced four calendar options (A–D). Staff said they solicited feedback from a broad group of employees and partners, including custodial, cafeteria, assessment, leadership and college partners, and presented survey results that showed close vote totals among several options. Calendar D was developed to incorporate feedback and to spread professional development days across the school year rather than front‑loading them in August.
Staff highlighted that Calendar D preserves nine‑week grading periods, spaces professional development monthly after the first month, and allows flexibility for local events such as the West Texas Relays. Trustees moved to adopt Calendar D for the 2026–27 academic year and approved it unanimously.
Staff said the calendar will guide planning for professional development and instruction and that district and partner calendars (Odessa College, Odessa College Technical Center) had been coordinated where feasible.
