Ector County ISD reviews bond construction progress and approves contract updates

The board considered a set of contract housekeeping items and amendments tied to those projects. Staff asked trustees to amend an AIA professional services agreement with Park Hill Architects for the Ag Farm to reflect a construction contract of about $6.6 million (up from an earlier design estimate of $5.6 million); staff explained Park Hill’s fee is a percentage of actual construction cost. Trustees moved and unanimously approved the amendment.
Separately, staff requested authorization of bond purchases over $100,000, including an item that would increase a previously approved contract with Tiner Construction by $775,000 (bringing that contract to a proposed $2,000,000 total) to cover additional job packages at Permian High School. A motion to approve the purchases and contract adjustment was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
District staff also reviewed progress on a pre‑engineered JROTC facility (minor material delays), the ag farm retention pond and transportation facility geotechnical work. Park Hill Architects will also lead a facilities condition assessment under an RFP previously awarded; trustees approved moving forward with that comprehensive assessment and long‑range master planning work.
The board’s actions were procedural approvals to align design‑phase contractual compensation with actual construction costs and to authorize funding increases for prioritized bond packages. No dissenting votes were recorded on these agenda items.
