District 214 showcases student career-pathway events: Bake Off, Supermileage, Voices and 9/11 exhibit

Prospect High hosted a 'Voices at District 214' choir event featuring guest clinician Lonnie Norwood Jr., who led movement and African/Africana music exercises to build confidence and community. Hersey High welcomed a 9/11 "Never Forget" mobile exhibit intended to teach students about the events of Sept. 11 and the stories of first responders, including the story of firefighter Steven Siller.
District staff also described a transportation career day that connects students to industry partners and an aviation program partnered with Lewis University offering flight and maintenance exposure.

District leaders described these activities as culminating, hands-on opportunities that complement classroom instruction and help students explore career and education pathways. The board meeting that followed included the strategic-plan presentation and routine governance actions.
