Board reviews TISA accountability report and invites public feedback via district website

The Sullivan County Board of Education heard a presentation on the district's TISA accountability plan and online public-review process during its regular meeting. Chair Cuddy opened the public-comment portion for the TISA report and asked staff to display the district's TISA webpage for attendees.

Dr. Scott walked the board and attendees through the online materials, saying the plan centers on three district goals and that both a detailed plan and an online feedback form are available. "When you get here, the 3 goals are clearly stated under district goals," Dr. Scott said, and he encouraged the public to "peruse" the detailed plan and submit feedback by Nov. 1 if possible, while noting the district accepts comments year-round.

The presentation explained that Tennessee's TISA funding formula requires each district to present an annual accountability report for public review before submission to the Tennessee Department of Education and that the report must include achievement goals and budgeted plans to meet them. Chair Cuddy asked staff (Penny) to demonstrate where to find the report and the feedback form on the district website so community members could comment before the submission deadline.

No formal action was taken on the matter during the meeting; board members asked questions about accessing the materials and staff confirmed online instructions were available to guide public reviewers.

The board moved on to other agenda items after the presentation; the district reiterated that feedback would be accepted online through the posted feedback form.
