The change originated from a request by Collin Riley, co-owner of the fireworks vendor doing business in Kewanee, who asked the council to allow sales for one additional day because July 4 falls on a Friday this year. Councilmember Adam Cernovich offered an amendment to the proposed ordinance to state that sales may occur on 'the Saturday immediately following July 4th or two days after July 4th, whichever is less.' Councilmember Colomer seconded the amendment; the amendment passed 5-0 and the ordinance amendment was approved 5-0.
