Maywood trustees reject Park District request to waive $19,453.77 in permit fees

Trustee M. Lightford moved to approve the waiver and Trustee Isaac Brandon seconded. The motion failed on roll call: Lightford voted yes while Mayor Edwenna Perkins and Trustees H. Yarbrough, I. Brandon, A. Sanchez and K. Wellington voted no. Manager Willie Norfleet had noted during discussion that the village expected future projects that would require funds and that those funds were not yet secured.
The denial means the Park District remains responsible for permit and plan-review fees associated with its renovation project. Trustees did not instruct staff to pursue alternative funding or to bring a modified waiver back at a later date during the meeting.
