The board agreed to contact the current lessee to propose a prorated refund for the remainder of that contract so the new lessee may clear ditches and begin irrigation work. The motion to accept the Gonka-Jackson proposal was moved by Commissioner Jennifer Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Michael Jones; the minutes record the motion carried unanimously.
The lease award completes the board’s review of submitted proposals for the County’s Major Property and establishes the annual lease amount and the board’s expectation that staff will coordinate the transition with the outgoing lessee to allow the new lessee to begin agricultural work promptly.
