Fremont County commissioners adopt Resolution 2026-10 to authorize budget transfers

Fremont County commissioners on March 24 unanimously approved Resolution 2026-10, an amendment to the FY 2025–2026 budget that authorizes specified transfers and corrections.

County Treasurer Jim Anderson presented the unanticipated revenues and recommended transfers during a public hearing. Key transfers authorized in Resolution 2026-10 include a $34,229 transfer from WYDOT to the Sheriff DUI Grant for the DUI/OP High Visibility Enforcement 2025–2026 (funding that supports salary and benefits for enforcement), transfers from Secure Rural School Act Reauthorization to the Transportation Department to cover road maintenance and snow removal for federal fiscal years 2024 and 2025, and a correction moving $105,000 from the Dispatch Fund Balance to Dispatch Depreciation to correct a budget line.

The resolution was moved by Commissioner Michael Jones and seconded by Commissioner Ron Fabrizius; the motion carried unanimously. The commissioners present were Larry Allen, Michael Jones, Jennifer Wilson and Ron Fabrizius; Commissioner Clarence Thomas was absent.

Why this matters: The transfers allocate one-time and retroactive funding that county officials said will align grant and program revenues with program expenses and correct an accounting line for dispatch depreciation. The WYDOT transfer in support of DUI/OP enforcement funds ongoing enforcement through Sept. 30, 2026.
