The Simi Valley Unified School District board accepted the district’s recommendation to appoint Township Elementary Principal Lori Neiman as the next director of elementary education.
Superintendent Dr. Youssef explained that the position is open because current director Erin Taggart will return to a school site at the end of the year and described Neiman’s background as a principal and literacy coach. “We were able to inform our principals today in a private Zoom meeting that we were going to bring Miss Neiman forward, to be recommended to the board,” Dr. Youssef said.
Neiman said she is “truly honored to accept this position with the Simi Valley Unified School District” and described her 14 years leading Township Elementary. “I will work tirelessly to ensure that our schools, our students, and our communities receive the support they need to thrive,” she said.
Trustees offered congratulations and recounted Neiman’s school‑level accomplishments; multiple members emphasized her experience with elementary principals and classroom teams as a reason the district recommended her for the role. The board previously handled the formal appointment in closed session and reported acceptance of the district recommendation at the public meeting.
The superintendent said staff will work with Neiman and principals to transition responsibilities so Neiman can begin districtwide oversight of elementary programs and supports. No effective date for the new assignment was specified on the public record.
