The Pickens County Board of Commissioners voted to update the county's building and construction codes to the 2024 edition now adopted at the State of Georgia level.
Chair Bill Miranda explained the county had been operating under the 2018 editions and said the update ensures local codes reflect the state's most recent requirements for building, residential, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas and swimming‑pool code provisions. The board approved the change as Item R after staff presented the amendment and provided the proposed resolution.
No public opposition was recorded during the meeting on this agenda item; commissioners approved the update to align local permitting and inspection practices with state code.
Staff will update code documents and advise permitting staff and contractors of the change.
