The council adopted an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation to resurface two sections of State Route 49 within city limits (Broadway/Washington Street to Fort Recovery Road).
Safety Service Director Dell explained the project is an ODOT urban-paving program that is federally funded through ODOT. He said the program is an 80/20 split with ODOT covering 80 percent of the estimated cost; the city's share was estimated by staff at roughly $132,000 but that figure is an engineer estimate and final city cost will depend on competitive bids.
Dell said the project is programmed in ODOT's 2027 sale (the city's 2026 calendar), with likely construction next July. Staff said the city will look first to state highway funds allowed only for state routes and then use CIP or permissive funds if necessary.
Council adopted the ordinance by roll call and had no further amendments at the meeting.
