Greeley County reclaims assessor duties and appoints Joan Goodrich effective July 1, 2012

At its May 29 meeting the board adopted Resolution 12‑7 appointing Joan Goodrich — described in the minutes as an individual with a valid assessor’s certificate — as county assessor effective July 1, 2012. The resolution directs that Goodrich serve until a county assessor is elected at the November 2014 election and assumes duties in January 2015. The board set the appointed assessor’s salary to align with Greeley County elected official wages and extended the same benefit package as other elected officials.
County staff and the board discussed necessary supplies and equipment for the reassumed assessor office, including a copy machine and software and the board approved related purchases and budget adjustments in the subsequent weeks. The minutes record that the board worked with outside vendors and sought grant funding for GIS and assessor systems to support the county’s reassumed responsibilities.
