GRANITE FALLS — The City Council approved its consent agenda March 20, accepting minutes from March 6, claims checks #414128–414174 totaling $165,969.25, and payroll/ EFTs totaling $119,983.50.
Passport Manager Mohanna Goravanchi reported the passport office has processed 15,326 applications to date, producing year‑to‑date revenue of $122,000 and a gross margin of $58,000. She said application volume is down about 18.7% compared with the prior year, averaging roughly 21 applications per business day.
Community Development Director Eric Jensen updated the council that the Planning Commission is working on the comprehensive plan update and the city recently received an annexation petition from the Legion Hall concerning cemetery property.
City Manager Brent Kirk summarized public works activity, including mowing, street sign cleaning, and updates on several projects: the wastewater treatment plant, 805 Stanley Street, Galena Street extension, Stanley Street sidewalk project, Gun Club Road property and a Fire District project. He also noted a DEM meeting addressing flooding and earthquake issues.
During public comment, Don James said a project he is working on requires placing power underground, a permitting or utility-routing requirement that may affect development plans.
The council's later business included a public hearing and adoption of an ordinance extending the sewer connection moratorium while the wastewater treatment plant is built.
