County staff told commissioners the Poudre River Trail will soon run continuously from Bellevue to Greeley and that partners will hold a community celebration at Timnath Community Park on June 13, with a ribbon cutting around 9:30 a.m. and partner booths through the morning.
Corey Johnston, communications supervisor for Larimer County Department of Natural Resources, told the Board of County Commissioners on April 20 that the Poudre River Trail will soon be continuous from Bellevue to Greeley, completing a paved multiuse route of about 45 miles.
Johnston said partners across jurisdictions — including Larimer County, the City of Fort Collins, the towns of Timnath and Windsor, the Colorado Department of Transportation, Great Outdoors Colorado and other trail partners — planned a community celebration for Saturday, June 13 at Timnath Community Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Official remarks and a ribbon cutting are scheduled for about 9:30 a.m., followed by partner booths and family-oriented activities.
Because no single agency owns the entire trail, the partners hired an event manager to coordinate logistics and communications; public information and marketing materials are expected to arrive in early May. Johnston asked that a commissioner represent Larimer County for official remarks during the ceremonial portion of the event.
Johnston said the county and partners will promote the celebration through press releases, partner websites and social media, and that the event manager will publish a schedule and map for attendees. The county encouraged community members to attend and said more official event details would be released in May.
