La Grange — The Village Board of Trustees voted unanimously Jan. 12 to adopt a fully revised village code intended to make local regulations searchable and easier to use.
The board approved an ordinance formalizing a Municode‑produced update that village staff and the village attorney reviewed section‑by‑section over 2022–2025. If implemented as approved, the revised code will take effect Feb. 1, 2026.
Village Manager Knight thanked staff and the attorney for the lengthy review process that preceded the vote. “It’s been a long time coming, having everything organized in one coherent place,” Trustee Gale said, thanking staff for their work. The measure passed on a roll‑call vote with all trustees voting aye.
The ordinance implements technical and organizational changes to a code that, officials said, had not been comprehensively updated since 1993 and will be posted online in a searchable format for residents and businesses. Trustees said the update should improve public access to rules governing zoning, permitting and other village operations.
The board took the action as part of a broader agenda that included debate and a separate, more contested vote later in the evening on a zoning amendment for 112 East Burlington Avenue.
