Director outlines programs, facilities and technology upgrades, plans digital archives project

Staff highlighted that the library’s new roof is finished and that no interior rain damage was reported during repairs.
Staff also described plans to preserve and digitize local archives through a partnership with San Diego State and California Reveal, aiming to make local history available online. The director said the library will implement a new integrated, web-based library system intended to expand outreach possibilities; "It will go live August 11, hopefully," the director said.
The board was invited to provide input for the city’s strategic plan update and the library’s own five-year planning. Staff described a technology lab reopening with coding classes for children and adults, 3D printing and a laser cutter, intended to increase community engagement and services for both youth and adults.
