Director Roberson presented a four-phase audit plan for the district's career and technical education (CTE) programs. The audit will examine enrollment trends, course progression, program completers (the district defines completion as at least three courses in a pathway), and funding sustainability, and will align those measures with Perkins V criteria for size, scope and quality.
Roberson said Phase I covered planning, Phase II is current data collection with district technology services and school sites, Phase III will be analysis and comparison, and Phase IV will be reporting. He said he hopes to provide an interactive dashboard that will be easy to update and use in scheduling and program planning. "My objective is to evaluate the effectiveness, the accuracy, and the outcomes of our career and technical education programs," he said.
Roberson highlighted partnerships for career dual enrollment with Lively Technical College and Tallahassee State College and described upcoming events: a ninth-grade 'WOW' event to explore career options and a senior hiring fair that will connect graduating students with local employers for on-site interviews and potential offers.
Board members asked about program progression and whether choice preferences affect placement; Roberson said the audit should reveal where programs are terminal versus those that provide clear high-school-to-postsecondary pathways, and that school-choice preferences are not automatic placement criteria but can be considered when capacity allows.
Roberson said he expects to have the dashboard and final reporting ready toward the end of the school year so schools can use the information for scheduling, program growth or reallocation decisions.
