Burr Ridge approves up to $110,000 for scenario-based police training and modular tactical house

The Burr Ridge board unanimously approved the purchase of a scenario-based police training program from Action Target (Provo, Utah) for a not-to-exceed amount of $110,000.
Mayor requested a motion to approve the purchase; a trustee moved and another seconded. The roll call vote was unanimous (6-0).
Trustee Smith, who had asked to remove that item from the consent agenda earlier, sought clarification about the intended location of a 1,000-square-foot modular tactical training house and raised a concern that staff previously had proposed renovating 453 Commerce Street for village use. Village staff explained the training structure is modular, can be sized or relocated (possible placement at 451 Commerce or at the public works side), and that village staff would perform installation at no cost rather than the vendor charging several thousand dollars. Staff said the modular system could be moved later if needed.
The board approved the expenditure by roll call and the motion passed.
