Director Brooke Bruner highlights new Leon County early learning hub

Brooke Bruner, the district's director of early learning, used the superintendent spotlight to brief the board on the phased opening of a new centrally located early learning hub. The facility, Bruner said, began opening in August in several phases and held a completed‑phases open house on March 6.
Bruner described the hub as a consolidation of services — pre‑K, childcare center, TAP program, EDEP and other early‑learning functions — intended to reduce barriers for families and improve coordination. "This space really represents so much more than just a relocation. It really reflects our commitment as a school system to ensure that our youngest learners and their families have access to high quality, coordinated, and welcoming early learning services," she said.
She also noted that the childcare center required compliance with Department of Children and Families regulations and praised the team that led the project, naming Lisonbee Garber and assistant superintendent Rod McQueen for their roles. Bruner highlighted "Rocky's Reading Corner," a small dedicated literacy space that honors the superintendent's focus on early literacy.
Board members thanked Bruner and the superintendent for the hub, calling it a "front porch" for the district and praising its potential to welcome families and streamline early‑learning services.
