Through the West Central Council of Mayors, the village secured additional Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) funds covering 80 percent of the extra lining; the estimated total cost is $450,000 with a local match estimated at $90,000. The board approved the resolution required under the Illinois Highway Code to allow the village to participate in the IDOT‑funded work.
Separately, the board authorized an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Western Springs so Western Springs — the lead agency on Gilbert Avenue phase‑2 engineering — can receive a $55,000 Invest in Cook grant for engineering. The cost‑share for the local match was proposed to be split equally, with La Grange responsible for $27,500.
Village Manager Knight and staff said funds exist within the current capital projects budget to cover the match for the sewer work. Trustees voted aye on both measures.
What happens next: staff will coordinate with IDOT and the West Central Council of Mayors on project scheduling and with Western Springs on the Gilbert Avenue engineering contract and reimbursement process.
