Deuel County approves small quarterly grants to help CLAD cover DADi loan payment

At the April 7 meeting CLAD (Clear Lake Area Development) Director Deb Adkins presented a quarterly report and requested county assistance to address a DADi loan payment. Adkins said the bank pushed a $30,000 loan payment to May 1 and asked the county for help of $20,000 while CLAD would contribute $10,000; she said CLAD was working through legalities after acquiring DADi assets and debt.
Adkins also said the lots in the industrial park need reconfiguration because current lot sizes make them less attractive to buyers, and CLAD cannot TIF the new industrial park infrastructure; that means CLAD may need to cover water services and road costs for the park unless it secures grants.
Commissioner Judith Homan moved and Commissioner Harry Mewherter seconded approval of quarterly support funds of $5,000 and $10,000 to help pay the DADi loan; the motion carried unanimously.
