Lucas City Council lists community events, early‑voting schedule and recycling drives

The Chair read a calendar of events: a family movie night in Lucas Community Park on Oct. 3, Lucas Fire Rescue’s open house on Oct. 5 (noon–3 p.m.), National Night Out on Oct. 7 (6–8 p.m.), and a porch‑and‑fence fall decoration contest (entries due Oct. 10). The Council also noted the Lucas Farmers Market will be Oct. 11, and encouraged residents to join community photo opportunities.
On elections, the Chair announced early voting at the Lucas Community Center beginning Oct. 20 with multiple early‑voting hours through Nov. 1 and Election Day voting on Nov. 4. The Council reminded residents the Nov. 1 Arbor Day event will include a drive‑through electronics recycling and free paper shredding in partnership with Legacy 4‑H and United Electronic Recycling and Mobile Shred.
Council members asked staff to publish electronics fee details and recycling guidance in the city newsletter so residents know which items are acceptable and how to prepare setouts for pickup. No members of the public spoke during the citizen‑input period.
