Summary
Duchesne County accepted Jones & DeMille Engineering’s recommendation to award the 2026 crack-sealing contract to Peckham Asphalt Paving Inc. for $106,300 and agreed to proceed with a $499,010 contract extension for East River Road chip-seal work.
Brock Harrison of Jones & DeMille Engineering presented the county’s 2026 roadway maintenance bids and recommended awarding the crack-sealing contract to Peckham Asphalt Paving Inc. for $106,300. Commissioner Jeff Chugg moved to accept the recommendation; Commissioner Tracy Killian seconded and the commission voted unanimously to award the bid.
Public Works Director Mike Casper updated commissioners on ongoing road projects, reporting that gravel work in the Tabiona Valley should finish soon, the mastic machine and crusher are operating, and a new wash plant is being set up. Casper said culverts on County Road 3000 are installed, allowing UDOT to repair the road, and discussed realignment and rights-of-way for Pole Line Road.
The commission also agreed to proceed with a $499,010 contract extension (previously awarded to Hales Sand & Gravel) to chip-seal East River Road; the parties discussed prior award status and decided to move forward with the project.
