Finance director: Marlboro County expenditures exceed revenues, auditors to finalize year-end report

Park reported that general fund expenditures for the month ended June 30, 2025, were $15,518,075 against a referenced budget of $14,748,543 — about 105.22% of budget year to date — and said that, as recorded in the minutes, expenditures currently exceed revenues and other sources. He noted that accruals, revenue adjustments and anticipated property tax and fee-in-lieu payments over the next two months could reduce the shortfall.
Park said finance staff will perform additional closing work over the coming three months and that the county's financial auditors will prepare the finalized audit and compliance report, due Dec. 31, 2025.
