The Goochland County Board of Supervisors on July 2 handled a slate of administrative and land‑use actions.
Key votes and actions included:
- Stormwater and erosion ordinance: Staff presented an ordinance repealing and replacing Chapter 5 to conform to new Virginia Department of Environmental Quality requirements effective July 1, 2024. The change consolidates land‑disturbance and stormwater permit processes into a single application and combines fees; the board adopted the ordinance by roll call.
- Telecommunications tower (Atlantic Tower LLC, District 1): The board approved a conditional use permit for a single‑lattice communications tower (maximum 99 feet) on Cartersville Road with standard conditions: fall‑zone containment on the property, FAA/FCC compliance, fencing, nonreflective materials, required buffering and a two‑year construction window.
- Small contractor storage (Cornelius Dandridge, District 2): The board approved a conditional use permit and granted exceptions for minimum acreage, setbacks, screening and vehicle/trailer counts for a 1.87‑acre site in the Sandy Hook crossroads; staff imposed dark‑sky‑compliant security lighting and standard site‑plan and building‑permit requirements.
- Rezoning to Interchange Commercial B3 at 12705 Broad Street Road: The board rezoned 3.452 acres from Residential General R3 to Interchange Commercial B3 (proffered) for a proposed two‑story medical office building providing outpatient specialty services; Planning Commission had forwarded a favorable 5–0 recommendation.
Other routine items included approval of consent‑agenda items (public hearing scheduling, a school operating fund budget amendment, and a VDOT agreement for pedestrian facilities), and several appointments to the Board of Zoning Appeals and PlanRVA.
