The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners held two public hearings at its Feb. 9 meeting and closed both after no members of the public spoke.
Chairman Jevin Jensen opened a hearing on an alcohol license application for B.J. BOS USA, Inc. d/b/a Antioch Convenience at 1601 Riverbend Road in Dalton; no public comments were recorded and the hearing was closed. The board later approved the alcohol beverage application by a 4–0 vote (motion by Commissioner Staten; second by Commissioner Jones).
Chairman Jensen also opened a public hearing on the Community Development Block Grant–Coronavirus (CDBG‑CV) project closeout. Grants Administrator Carol Roberts summarized project activities: 2022–2023 property acquisition and building construction and architectural and administrative services, and 2024–2025 other public services supporting Food Bank operations. Roberts emphasized the project used federal funds and complied with fair housing and equal opportunity guidelines. No public comments were offered and the hearing was closed.
Minutes do not record public objections for either hearing. The alcohol license motion was recorded separately and approved during the meeting.
