Dr. Hobson congratulated staff for securing awards and thanked the board for its volunteer service, and she said the district’s first flexible instruction day (FID) "went very well with high attendance and classes mostly full." She told the board initial feedback was positive and staff feel more prepared should another FID be required.
Facilities director Chuck Peroli reported the senior high roofing project "was actually completed on around November 30," with a final walkthrough conducted Jan. 8 with Grant from Garmin Roofing Company; he said remaining punch-list items have been completed and only preventative lightning-safety work remained in progress. Peroli described the aging HVAC computer monitoring system (he cited the last update as about 1999) and said the district will work with Draw Collective (the project's architect) and pursue grant funding to offset upgrade costs.
On boilers, Peroli said Mechanical Room Solutions (MRS) is installing a new boiler and that the old boilers will be dismantled and replaced beginning in February, with one repaired boiler to be kept as a backup during transition. He also reported recent equipment purchases to support grounds maintenance, including a 2019 Ford pickup equipped with a salt spreader and a new Ventrac mower; he said he will budget for additional equipment replacement in the coming year and develop a five-year plan with administration and staff input.
Board members and administrators also highlighted district grant awards from the Beaver County Educational Trust to multiple teachers across grade levels, and principals reported student recognitions (chorus placements, Academic Games, student council activities, and student-of-the-month honors). The meeting included recognition of community partners and volunteers who supported a holiday toy drive serving 152 students from 68 families.
