Hamburg Area School Board approves extracurricular positions, personnel actions and out-of-state conference

The Hamburg Area School District Board on Jan. 12 approved a package of extracurricular position descriptions, multiple personnel actions and authorized a district-funded out-of-state conference for a Perry Elementary teacher.
Directors voted to approve extra‑curricular position descriptions for Class Advisor, National Honor Society Advisor and Student Council Advisor after administration presented the documents; the motion was made by Director Daniel Sarna and seconded by Toni McFadden and passed by roll call 7–0.
The board also approved personnel actions presented by administration. Recorded retirements include Kathy Bowser (Perry Elementary School Nurse) and Lisa Scicchitano (Middle School ELA teacher), both effective June 5, 2026. A resignation for Katie Fisher (Assistant Coach, Middle School Track) effective Dec. 3, 2025, and a termination for Jessica Harley (Perry Elementary Learning Support Paraeducator) effective Dec. 19, 2025, were recorded. New support and extra‑curricular assignments approved include Josha Danser (Tilden Elementary Autistic Support/Life Skills Paraeducator, effective Jan. 26, 2026, hourly rate $16.34 for a seven‑hour day), Jennifer Carestia (Assistant Coach, Middle School Track & Game Help, stipend $2,600), and Courtney Gougler (JV Head Coach, High School Field Hockey, stipend $3,290). The personnel motion was made by Thomas DeAngelo, seconded by Birgit White, and passed 7–0 by roll call.
Directors also approved Perry Elementary Music Teacher Leslie Weaver’s attendance at the Feierabend Association for Music Education Biennial Conference in Chicago, July 18–19, 2026, at an approximate district cost of $570 (motion by Birgit White, seconded by Daniel Sarna; vote 7–0).
Administration provided several first reviews of administrative position descriptions (including Director of Transportation & Child Accounting and Superintendent of Schools) and noted a handout overview of the AEM contract. Business Manager Michele Zimmerman also indicated a 2026–2027 General Fund Preliminary Budget Opt-Out Resolution will be placed on the Jan. 26 agenda for board approval. The meeting adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
