The Hopewell Area School District board approved a slate of committee recommendations and personnel actions at its meeting, including adoption of the 2026–27 school calendar and approval of a municipal statement to revive the Beaver County Special School Authority.
Ms. Bell presented the recommended 2026–27 school calendar, which notes teacher in‑service on Aug. 17 and a first student day of Thursday, Aug. 20; the calendar was discussed briefly with attention to timing around the Hookstown Fair and then approved by the board.
The board also approved a municipal statement of revival to the Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth to retroactively revive the Beaver County Special School Authority for an additional 50‑year term; that motion was seconded and passed.
On routine business the board approved payments (Bills A and B) and ratified other listed payments (C and D) by roll call. The record shows board members answering 'yes' during the roll call for those motions.
Multiple personnel items were approved: a retirement effective April 1, 2026 (employee #318); a change in employment status for employee #2003 (effective Feb. 16, 2026); hiring Danielle Bridal as a bus driver (effective Feb. 17, 2026); and approval to place a resignant on the substitute list (employee #2482). The board moved and passed resolutions initiating dismissal proceedings against employee #1813 and employee #2583 (transcript references to 'Resolution three‑twenty 26' and 'resolution 4‑20‑26'); both motions passed on roll call with the record indicating affirmative votes.
Separately, the board approved termination of employee #2551 for abandonment of position, effective Feb. 13, 2026, after a motion, second and a vote. The board also approved the 2026 spring coaches and corresponding salaries.
The meeting closed after brief other business — board members offered well wishes to Hopewell athletics — and the board announced upcoming meetings on 03/03/2026 (work meeting) and 03/17/2026 (business meeting) before adjourning.
The board’s procedural announcement earlier in the agenda noted the board met in executive session at 6:00 p.m. to discuss personnel, litigation and real estate matters in compliance with Act 84 of 1986 (Pennsylvania Sunshine Law).
