Slippery Rock Area School Board approves personnel hires, substitutes and other routine items

The Slippery Rock Area School Board on Feb. 23 approved a series of personnel and routine operational items, including hires, substitutes, leave requests and conference attendance.
On motions presented by board members and carried by the full board, the district approved professional substitutes including Irene Heinsberg and two Act 86 substitutes, Rebecca Rugar and Ave Pushchak. The board also approved Jonathan Lund as a bus/van driver (STA).
The board appointed Steve Monteleone as the head varsity football coach; the motion was made by Vito Pilosi, seconded by Mara Hensel and carried unanimously. The board also granted unpaid leave to Victoria Gerber for March 9–13, 2026, and authorized posting a 4.5-hour production worker position at Moraine Elementary School.
Additionally, the board approved the job description for Administrative Assistant to Special Services and a slate of conferences, workshops and fieldtrips including SAP training, Read Across America activities, and gifted-student trips and observations. Costs and dates for each trip were recorded on the agenda.
The board approved an Early Retirement Incentive for support staff through a memorandum of understanding.
The meeting minutes record these as approved by motions with named movers and seconders; most items were noted as unanimously carried.
