School board keeps 2027 meetings during spring break after voice vote

The school board voted to keep its regular 2027 meeting schedule, which will fall during spring break, after the superintendent presented two calendar options and members discussed potential conflicts.

The superintendent presented Option 1 (maintain the second-and-fourth-Tuesday schedule) and Option 2 (shift that month's meetings to the first-and-third Tuesday to avoid spring break). "If you look at 2027, it would have fallen on spring break," the superintendent said when describing the calendar implications and asked members to mark upcoming trim and budget workshop dates to ensure quorum.

Board members discussed availability under the alternate schedule. "I would have conflicts on that first and third, and so I would need to either look at getting coverage if we went to the first and third," said Mister Lott (S5), who flagged personal conflicts with Option 2. After brief discussion the chair called for a motion to approve Option 1; the motion was moved, seconded, and passed on a voice vote.

The board also conducted routine procedural business during the meeting. There were no public comments. A motion to approve the minutes was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote, and the consent and finance agenda was moved, seconded, and approved after members said their questions had been answered.
