The Greeley Parks & Recreation Advisory Board opened its Dec. 5 meeting with roll call and unanimously approved the agenda and the minutes of the previous meeting. Eric Parrish moved to approve the agenda (Rand Morgan seconded); Rand Morgan moved to approve minutes (Ben Christiansen seconded); both motions passed unanimously.
Director Diana Frick led a discussion of board priorities for 2026, recommending the board adopt three to five high-level priorities to strengthen advocacy for the Culture, Parks and Recreation Department, align with the city strategic plan, and clarify community-awareness needs. Board members discussed holding at least four meetings "on tour" at different park sites, assigning board members to champion specific parks, and adding a calendar review at the end of each agenda to track participation data.
Staff reported Island Grove hosted about 833,000 people last year; the board directed staff to continue site planning to better define Island Grove's niche as a premier event facility and to use the KPI project to show how parks programming ties into the city's strategic priorities.
New business was limited to a brief facilities suggestion — installing white boards or a QR-code reporting tool for equipment repairs in meeting rooms. The minutes list the next meeting as tentatively scheduled for Jan. 9; the year recorded in the minutes (2025) conflicts with this Dec. 5, 2025 meeting and appears to be a clerical error (likely Jan. 9, 2026). The meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
Actions recorded in the minutes: the board passed the agenda and minutes unanimously and adjourned by consensus.
