Greeley parks staff unveil KPI dashboard that uses Placer AI location data

Benjamin Alexander, business manager for the City of Greeley’s Parks and Recreation Department, presented a planned Key Performance Indicator dashboard during the board’s Nov. 7 meeting that he said will display citizen-focused program and visitation data. “KPI stands for Key Performance indicators. Quantitative number to the story of the lives of the people who are participating in programs and where our resources need to be allocated,” Alexander said.
Diana Frick, director of Culture, Parks and Recreation, said staff plans to augment internal counts with Placer AI geofencing to analyze phone-location signals and identify the city’s most-visited locations. “This will tell us our most visited locations and what they do around these locations. It’s amazing to see how an organization can use this in a meaningful and purposeful way,” Frick said. The board did not take a vote on the dashboard during the meeting. Staff presented the tool as a way to make quantitative participation data available to residents and to inform program and resource decisions.
The presentation included no recorded discussion of privacy safeguards or procurement details in the minutes. The department listed the KPI dashboard as an item for staff development; next steps were not specified at the meeting.
