Advisory board adopts five priorities for 2026; arts-board realignment to go to City Council

At its Feb. 6 meeting the Greeley Parks and Recreation Advisory Board adopted five priority areas for 2026 focused on outreach, equity and program oversight.
Board members agreed to emphasize community awareness—championing major projects and improving social media presence—alongside a renewed focus on equity, access and participation through scholarships and culturally relevant programming. The board also prioritized regular site visits to become stronger CPRD ambassadors, tracking of strategic projects and City Council priorities (including the Island Grove Master Plan and Lincoln Park) and improvements to board effectiveness, including agenda flow, subcommittee work and increased board presence at CPRD events.
Staff member Susan Murray described plans for three site visits during the year tied to the City Master Plan and suggested a master calendar for board activities. City Council Liaison Deb DeBoutez and Director Diana Frick were present for the discussion.
Separately, Sharon Wright reported on arts commission activity and detailed a staff proposal to realign multiple arts advisory groups into a single Arts and Culture Board. Diana Frick said, if City Council approves, staff will develop a new application process and bylaws prior to the Council discussion in April.
No formal policy votes were taken on the goals or the arts-board realignment at the Feb. 6 meeting; the topics will proceed through staff work and upcoming Council consideration.
