Facilities team briefs Highlands Ranch Board on parks, playgrounds and maintenance workload

Tyler Ensign, Construction and Facilities Maintenance Manager, introduced the Facilities team at the March 25 study session and identified key staff members responsible for park assets. Facilities Supervisor Tim Doan provided an overview of the maintenance workload, saying the District maintains 42 miles of fence, 21 playgrounds, 27 restrooms and 144 monument walls and detailed routine playground maintenance tasks including mulching, raking and replacing broken parts.
Doan said when playgrounds are replaced the Facilities team prefers to perform demolition in-house to reduce costs. He also described the team's role in removing graffiti and repairing vandalized restrooms and playgrounds. Board members asked questions about specific maintenance practices and thanked the Facilities team for their work to keep Highlands Ranch parks well maintained.
The presentation emphasized ongoing special projects and the breadth of responsibilities handled by a relatively small maintenance team; no budget changes or major capital project approvals were proposed at the study session.
