Event scheduling software: The board approved use of QuickScores for city-sponsored tournaments and leagues. Staff said there is no cost to the city because fees and credit-card charges are included in participant entry fees. Commissioners discussed expected event sizes (about 20 softball teams with a three-game guarantee and pickleball entries of roughly 30–60 people) and approved the measure unanimously.
Fire department grant: The board accepted a cost-share grant awarded through the rural volunteer fire department assistance program (B2604). Staff said the grant covers 95% up to $25,000 for personnel protective equipment and related items; the city’s 5% share will come from existing PPE budget lines. Staff noted the funding will allow replacement of aging equipment and purchase of a commercial-grade gear extractor and additional wildland gear.
AMR ambulance contract: The board approved a one-year extension to the existing contract with American Medical Response (AMR), a routine annual renewal while staff plan a full contract rewrite next year; the motion passed unanimously and commissioners praised AMR’s service.
Ordinances and next steps: Several ordinances (including ordinance 1108 as read in the meeting) were tabled because the required public hearing had not taken place; staff said they will return in April after planning and zoning completes necessary hearings. The board recessed into executive session to discuss city-manager personnel matters under Texas Government Code sections 551.001 and 551.074.
