Altoona council approves road-widening resolution; homeowners to be contacted about right-of-way offers

Altoona’s City Council voted Sept. 18 to authorize a public improvement for the Adventureland Drive NW widening project, a change that may require property acquisition.
City Engineer John Dostart told the public the project covers 7th Avenue NW just east of Greenway Park and that the city has initiated contact with all affected property owners. "Our Right-of-Way agent will be in contact with the property owners to present formal offers," Dostart said during the open hearing. Resident Elizabeth Boos asked whether homeowners had been contacted and raised property-specific questions; Dostart offered to meet with her after the meeting.
The council approved the resolution (recorded 4-0). Dostart and staff emphasized continued efforts to reach voluntary agreements with property owners before pursuing any acquisition processes.
Next steps: right-of-way staff will present formal offers to impacted property owners and return to council if negotiations require additional action or approval of settlement terms.
