Granite Falls wastewater plant staff honored for Ecology award; north clarifier drive repaired

Mayor Matthew Hartman read letters into the record on Sept. 6 congratulating the Granite Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant for receiving the 2022 Outstanding Wastewater Treatment Plant Performance award under NPDES Permit #WA0021130; the mayor cited a letter from the Washington Department of Ecology and a letter from State Representative Carolyn Eslick.
Supervisor Lyle Bjornson, present along with staff Darin Jackson and Nathaniel Stoneking, received the council’s congratulations. Bjornson reported that the plant had completed a rebuild of the north clarifier drive unit and reducer; the bridge and drive unit have been replaced and the unit was expected to be operational the following day.
City Manager Brent Kirk and other staff provided related public works updates elsewhere on the agenda, including completed restroom work on the Frank Mason project and near‑term completion of the N. Alder project. The recognition and operational update were presented as informational items; no formal council action was recorded regarding plant operations at the meeting.
