Residents press board on retaining wall, e-bike rules; candidate announces run

Three residents spoke during public comment at the Highlands Ranch Metropolitan District meeting on Jan. 27.
David Fornof of Desert Willow Way said the retaining wall at Marcy Park is in constant disrepair and asked who he should contact to have it fixed. The board did not record an immediate staff directive in response during the public-comment exchange.
MacClain Figueroa of Rad Venturers, a Highlands Ranch–based e-bike tour operator, said confusion persists among trail users about the legality of e-bikes on the Highline Canal and that Class 2 e-bikes and below are permitted. Figueroa described an incident in which he and tour participants were confronted by people who believed e-bikes were not allowed and offered to host a public forum and free public safety courses on e-bike rules and safety gear.
Nate Marsh of Spring Grove Avenue said he was announcing his candidacy for the Colorado General Assembly, described his background working with the district attorney’s office, and expressed support for the Highlands Ranch Metro District and its partnership with the Highlands Ranch Community Association.
The board acknowledged the comments; no board action on the three items was recorded at the meeting.
