Summary

Director of Public Works Ryan Edwards asked the board to authorize a small utility easement to BAM Broadband for fiber installation at the southeast corner of Cresthill and University.
Edwards explained that while staff currently has authority to grant standard utility easements, the policy language is dated and staff intends to update it to refer more generally to franchise utilities rather than name specific providers. The board discussed likely fiber installation, the potential for multiple utility boxes in some locations, coordination with Douglas County permitting, and approaches to reduce visual impacts.
The Chair asked whether any board member objected to placing the easement item on the Jan. 27 consent agenda; no objections were raised. Staff will return the item for formal action at that meeting.
