Summary
Council approved Pay Application No. 10 for the Event Hub and heard staff report the interior is roughly 80% complete, kitchen equipment is installed, and a June 30 ribbon cutting/state of the city event is planned.
Oak Park — City staff told the council April 20 that construction of the Event Hub is advancing and the council approved Pay Application No. 10 for $378,381.26 to cover recent work.
Deputy City Manager Dave DeCoster walked council through project photos and updates: the canopy underside and band shell ceiling are now largely complete, interior finish work such as floor grinding and final electrical is ongoing, garage doors are installed and commercial kitchen equipment has been installed and tested. "We're still waiting on some inspections and things, but things are progressing well," DeCoster said.
City Manager Eric Tungate said contingency funds remain and emphasized the project team has managed previous change orders without net increases to the project bottom line. The administration is targeting a June 30 ceremony combining the state of the city address and a ribbon cutting, with an expected opening around July 1.
Council voted to approve the pay application and related administrative documentation. Staff said they will continue weekly oversight of the project and return with status updates as inspections and final work are completed.
Next steps: staff will complete final inspections and prepare the site for the public opening and summer programming, including a limited summer concert series initially managed by the city.
