Cottonwood County approves personnel moves, declares short office closure and OKs March warrants

Human Resources Technician Kathy Marsh brought multiple personnel matters before the board. The board unanimously approved moving Arianna Rwaki to permanent full-time Assistant County Attorney status effective April 1, 2026, following successful probation. Commissioners also approved transferring Building & Grounds Worker Anthony Fauglid to a full-time Jail/Dispatcher position effective March 23, 2026, at a rate of $27.99 per hour, and authorized hiring to fill the vacant Building & Grounds Worker position, pending the County Coordinator finalizing salary and start date.
The board (motion by Gravley, second by Maras) also voted to declare County offices officially closed until 12:00 p.m. on March 16, 2026, due to inclement weather, citing County Policy No. 240. In routine business the board approved March warrants totaling $66,013.07 covering County Revenue, Ditch, Road and Bridge, Waste Abatement/SCORE, and Landfill Enterprise funds.
Chairman Appel provided updates on township meetings and public works. Auditor/Treasurer Carolyn Rempel said the County has $100,000 in LATCS funds unspent and, by consensus, the board agreed to use those funds for the Public Health building roof.
