Gainesville council approves short‑term rental permits, rezoning, park renaming and Oncor franchise in unanimous votes

The Gainesville City Council on Nov. 4 approved a slate of land‑use and franchise actions, each by unanimous 7–0 votes.
After holding public hearings with no speakers, the council approved special use permits allowing short‑term rentals at 1209 E. Garnett and 1200 Anthony. The council also adopted an ordinance rezoning approximately 0.8035 acres on Field Street from Commercial (C2) to Multi‑Family (MF‑1).
Council approved a final plat for the Bailey ACC Addition (10.298 acres within the Wheeler Creek RV & Storage Addition, commonly known as 4401 E. Highway 82) and passed a resolution renaming Jaycee Park to Kiwanis Park. The council also approved an ordinance granting an electric power franchise to Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC.
