Council approves patrol vehicles, bond notice, GEDC appointment and historical marker

At its Dec. 2 meeting the Gainesville City Council approved several resolutions by unanimous recorded votes (6 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Abstentions, 1 Absent).
Councilmember Gary Sutton moved and Councilmember Linda Lewis seconded a resolution authorizing the purchase of three police patrol vehicles from Dodge City of McKinney through a BuyBoard purchasing contract; the motion carried 6–0.
Councilmember Gary Sutton moved and Councilmember Dakota Nichols seconded a resolution directing publication of notice of intent to issue up to $52,270,000 in Combination Tax and Revenue Certificates of Obligation to fund street and utility system improvements; the motion carried 6–0. The resolution authorizes publication of the notice; it does not itself issue debt—the council will take further steps if the financing proceeds.
Councilmember Gary Sutton moved and Councilmember Randy Jones seconded a resolution appointing Matthew Dickson to the Gainesville Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors; the motion carried 6–0. Matthew Dickson had earlier identified himself in the public comment period as interested in the GEDC board.
Councilmember Mary Jo Dollar moved and Councilmember Linda Lewis seconded a resolution authorizing placement of a historical marker at Georgia Bass Park regarding Civil War dissent in North Texas; the motion carried 6–0.
Each of these resolutions passed by recorded vote; staff were assigned to carry out the administrative follow-up required for procurement, publication of the notice, formal appointment paperwork, and marker placement.
