The superintendent reported a range of district accomplishments and gave a facilities update during the superintendent’s report.
Highlights included athletic recognitions (players advancing to state competitions and a senior selected for the Iowa Shrine Bowl all‑star classic), several wrestling placings, orchestra and drama achievements, and the Poms team placing second at a national championship. The superintendent thanked staff, students and community members for attending the recent performance‑hall ribbon cutting and open house.
On facilities, staff reported that OPN’s education assessments are complete for elementary, intermediate and middle schools, with high‑school assessments underway; design meetings for the high‑school indoor activity center are continuing and an early site package for the parking lot was presented to the board as an action item. The superintendent also reminded the board about upcoming calendar events, including a foundation main event scheduled for March 27 at the Doubletree with tickets on the foundation website.
"We have a lot of district honors and highlights on our exhibit tonight," the superintendent said, thanking the community for attending district events.
The superintendent closed by inviting questions and confirming upcoming dates for school visits and professional development.
