Engineer updates sewer and street projects; TCEQ approves Willis water emergency plan

The City engineer and city manager provided operational updates during the Nov. 18 meeting.
Engineer Jonny Green reported that sanitary sewer smoke testing to identify inflow and infiltration sources is in the bidding phase. He said the FM 1097 West lift station upsize project serving The Enclave development is ready to be advertised for bid, and that the Worsham Street widening project (Kennedy to S. Campbell) is underway with survey, geotechnical analysis and design work in progress.
City Manager Sheyi Ipaye reported that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has approved the City’s Emergency Preparedness Plan for the water system. Ipaye said the plan uses permanently installed, automatically starting generators to maintain minimum required pressures during extended power outages and to restore normal operations safely and as quickly as practicable.
