Council members on Wednesday agreed they could identify candidates for vacancies on the Etech board during the Mayor’s Choice portion of the March 16 meeting and that formal appointment would follow by resolution. “If you want to identify candidates, you could certainly do that under Mayor’s Choice. We do appointment by resolution,” the city attorney said during the mayor-manager meeting.
Council members said there were three applicants remaining from an earlier interview round; two are from the same household and only one plans to move forward. The mayor asked staff to provide the names so a resolution could be prepared and dropped on the agenda.
Why it matters: appointments to boards and commissions determine citizen representation on advisory bodies that influence planning, policy review and project oversight. The council indicated it would handle the appointments at the next regular meeting via a resolution rather than as individual consent items.
The city attorney and clerk confirmed the procedural route; staff said they would prepare the resolution once the mayor sends the names.
