Englewood previews March 16 meeting with Little Dry Creek Plaza design contract, building-code update and police data-sharing agreement

Englewood’s mayor and staff on Wednesday walked through the items slated for the March 16 City Council meeting, flagging a construction design contract for Little Dry Creek Plaza, several ordinance actions and a police data-sharing agreement. “So our next meeting is coming up next Monday, March 16,” Deputy City Manager Tim Dodd said as he reviewed the agenda.
The agenda lists a motion on the consent calendar to approve the Little Dry Creek Plaza construction design contract and an MOU between the Downtown Development Authority and the city for that project. Dodd also said Englewood Arts plans to request a waiver of security fees related to an upcoming event; staff said they hope to receive that request in time to include it on the meeting agenda.
Several ordinance items are scheduled: CB 21 is on first reading to adopt the 2024 International Building and Fire Codes; CB 29 would address the uniform hearings code; and CB 18 would authorize administrative fines for business-license violations. Dodd told the mayor that CB 24 is a proposed data-sharing agreement between the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Englewood Police Department to integrate records with regional systems.
Staff also listed consent items including CB 23 (amending traffic code on vehicle registration and cellphone use), CB 25 (extension of an intergovernmental agreement for voter services, polling-center operations and ballot drop boxes), and a 2026 open-space grant application. Dodd said the 2026 DOLA housing planning grant application will be placed on consent as an application only.
Why it matters: the design contract and related MOU relate to a tangible downtown construction project; the building-code and administrative-fine ordinances would change regulatory requirements for construction and business licensing; and the data-sharing agreement would connect local police records systems with state and national databases.
The mayor asked staff to provide names for pending board appointments so a resolution can be prepared for the next council meeting; staff indicated appointments are handled by resolution. The meeting concluded with staff confirming a research request on the history of scooter regulation would be entered into council records.
The council will consider the listed items at its March 16 meeting; staff did not report any votes during the preparatory mayor-manager session.
