Willis City Council awards $50,755 remodeling contract for new City Hall to G&R Custom Design Tile LLC

City Manager Sheyi I. Ipaye presented a proposal to remodel the one-story portion of the former bank at 501 W. Montgomery Street to house the City’s administration offices and recommended awarding the contract to G&R Custom Design Tile LLC, the lowest responsible bidder. Staff said two bids were received: G&R Custom Design Tile LLC for $50,755 and Wileys Construction Service LLC for $73,500.

According to the staff summary, the G&R scope includes removal and installation of teller trays, door and partition installation, acoustic ceiling tile and grid repairs, carpet tile demolition and replacement throughout the main floor, tile installation in the entry area, and plumbing fixture replacement for restrooms and the kitchen; materials, labor, and delivery were included in the $50,755 total. The Wileys Construction Service LLC proposal included demolition and painting throughout, installation of two commercial windows and doors, restroom and kitchen fixture replacement, new ceramic tile at the entrance, and vinyl flooring in the kitchen for $73,500.

Councilwoman Kaye Maglitto moved to approve staff’s recommendation to award the bid to G&R Custom Design Tile LLC in the amount of $50,755 and to authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute the contract and related documents. Councilman Barney Stone seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously; all six council members present voted yes.

The City will proceed with contract finalization and execution; the staff presentation did not specify a construction start date or expected completion timeline.
