Park services report cites irrigation repairs, tree removals and 17 graffiti incidents in February

Lauren presented the park services monthly report for February, highlighting recent maintenance and incident responses.

She described a significant valve and mainline break at Milford Mini Park where staff repaired the line and replanted with available plant materials and mulch, reducing bicycle track damage to landscaping. At Emerald Isle Park staff identified and removed a dying pine that obstructed an irrigation valve box; Public Works forestry will replant the replacement tree in winter.

Lauren reviewed routine field maintenance equipment and schedules for Fremont Park and other locations, including grooming and litter‑collection operations. She reported 17 graffiti incidents across parks in February; staff described those occurrences as typical and varying widely in size, and said coordination with police and community reporting helps identify repeat perpetrators.

Commissioners asked whether the graffiti count represented an unusual spike; park services said staff have seen similar patterns and that incident volume varies by park. Lauren invited commissioners to ask about specific sites or follow up with public works if they see recurring damage.
